Twenty-one years ago, like many others, I carried the aspirations of a better tomorrow, inspired by the ideals of freedom and bravery epitomized by America. Little did I know that my homeland would soon be engulfed in the horrors of war and turmoil, marking the onset of what history would later recognize as the first genocide of the 21st century hmh.org .

Despite the echoes of “never again” reverberating across the globe, our reality was one of shattered dreams and unfulfilled promises. A generation born into conflict, where peace seemed like an elusive dream. Today, Sudan, particularly Darfur, hrw.org continues to bear the scars of a relentless civil war, displacing millions and leaving behind a trail of suffering and despair.
In the face of such daunting challenges, sudna.org emerges as a beacon of hope and resilience. Over the past year, we have worked tirelessly to mitigate the impact of loss and devastation that has gripped our communities. Sudanese communities across the United States have come together to support their loved ones, both near and far. Our sister organization, the Sudanese Doctors Association sapa-usa.org, exemplifies the spirit of humanitarianism by providing essential medical aid to those in need, even amidst grave risks. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to humanitarian organizations like USAID for their steadfast support in alleviating the suffering of our people, even in the face of adversity. As we bid farewell to outgoing Ambassador John Godfrey, we reflect on his unwavering commitment to fostering peace and prosperity in Sudan, a vision that continues to inspire us.

Today, sudna.org stands as a bastion of innovation in the fight against the current civil strife. Leveraging the power of technology and emerging AI solutions, we are developing innovative approaches to address pressing issues such as kidnappings and forced disappearances. Our initiatives include the establishment of a missing person registry, utilizing AI to reunite families torn apart by conflict.
